From an urban point of view, the project is part of an already existing succession of public spaces, linking the town of Bellevue to the Geneva Lake. The main goal of our proposal is to make this walk even more attractive, by creating a new public square connecting the Route of Lausanne with the public park fronting the lake.

From an architectural point of view we designed the project on the principle of maximum flexibility of spaces, in order to drastically limit the life cycle costs of the two buildings. We developed this concept by focusing on two aspects: on the one hand the functional program and, on the other hand, a simple and rational constructive principle.

The structural rationality is expressed by a simple orthogonal geometry and a prefabricated wooden structure, with a load-bearing frame of 8m x 8m. This structure was specially designed to facilitate eventual future transformations of the buildings. The two constructions result “agile” and adaptable: without any interior load-bearing wall, all the partitions are mobile, which will allow the different users to freely appropriate spaces over time.
