We are a Paris-based architectural firm offering design strategies to public and private bodies concerned with the common good. We believe that the “common good” is never a fixed mandate. Rather, it is a constantly shifting ambition.

The unceasing quest for the common good is what makes a city a city.

We provide tailored solutions by operating on a wide range of domains, from masterplanning and architecture to editing and curating. Our DNA is profoundly multidisciplinary: we develop research on politics, economy, and design. We are experienced partnering with companies working in diverse fields, such as information design, civic-tech, urban farming, lifestyle and education.

ON CITIES has a sister company called ALIMENTS exploring the relationship between food systems and urbanism.

ON CITIES uses architecture to question the lived and the built.

Marcello’s essays were published by the French magazine Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Footprint (the T.U. Delft journal of architectural theory) and by the Editions du Pavillon de l’Arsenal. Marcello serves as guest critic at the École Speciale d’Architecture in Paris and at the École nationale supérieure d'architecture in Versailles.
